Just showing off my world-building skillz. *_^
This is from an MMORPG my friends and I were going to create when we first started talking about forming an independent videogame studio. Back then, anything seemed possible, so I was told to "go nuts" and unleash all of my dreams into the lore of the game. Then, as we became more affluent in game development, we quickly realized that we would need a team of at least 15-400 in-house programmers, writers, engineers to run servers, artists, and you-name-it to pull of a game of this scope. So, we scrapped the MMO part and used my writing and concept art to fuel the next game, which... ended up being another MMO, lol! Scrapped that, too.
Lesson to be learned: Don't invest TOO much into pre-production when you don't even have the resources to produce much of anything! Instead of writing a novel-worth of backstory, spend time making the great god damn Pacman in the easiest game you can possibly make. The idea is to get yourself out there and GROW. Then you can tackle big Tolkien projects like I wanted to do!
